Building
Relationships is the cornerstone of the Chaplaincy service. All
activities and endeavors of the service must fit within this objective.
This finds expression through a number of very different programs and yet
while the programs differ, the underlying objective remains the same; to
build relationships in the school community that provide care and support.

The Game Guru
Shield
is
a series of game console tournaments operating each year through the
Chaplaincy. Each term a different tournament is run using a different
console including X-Box 360, PS2 and Gamecube. The purpose is to build
relationships with students who may not necessarily have connected with the
Chaplaincy.
Brekky Club
as
the name suggests, is a breakfast put on for students and staff every week
free of charge. The club began in 2004 out of a need to provide
breakfast for students who for various reasons were coming to school not
having had their morning meal. Since then, the Brekky Club has
transformed into a social point of meeting and eating for over 100 students
and staff. Runcorn Christian Church in conjunction with volunteers
from several other local churches work together to host the club.
Brekky Club is proudly sponsored by Spar Express Eight Mile Plains, Camp
Oven Bakeries and Bliss Skin Center, Eight Mile Plains.

The
Chaplain works in
conjunction with other student services staff such as Guidance Officers,
Behavioural Management Teachers, Deputy Principals, Year Level Coordinators
and Special Needs Teachers to be a frontline force against drugs, depression
and suicide in teenagers.
