How are Chaplains Funded?

Chaplains are funded through the generosity of donors who value their work. These donors include individuals, local churches, businesses and schools. Over $2 million of community money is contributed to Chaplaincy in schools annually. The State & Federal Governments have also made funding available to new or existing Chaplaincies that desire to expand.

Introducing the Chaplain...

Hi my name’s Les and I’ve been chaplain at Runcorn SHS for 8 years. Runcorn SHS is the best school in Queensland. It has a very warm & welcoming atmosphere and the staff are united in providing the best possible educational opportunities for students.

There aren’t many people who get paid to do what they love – I’m one of the few. It’s a great privilege to share in life’s journey with staff & students. My part is to build relationships in the school community which means I get to play X-Box and go camping (and I work hard at doing them well!).

How Can You Help?

Financial Partnership. Funding is the greatest need as the Chaplaincy is dependent solely on the generosity of the local community. So one easy way you can help is to financially support the Chaplaincy. There are varying levels of support.

Entering into sponsorship will enable your business/organization to be recognized as a Sponsor and major partner of the Chaplaincy at Runcorn State High School. Specific recognition of your sponsorship will include:

Ø Acknowledgment of your level of sponsorship on the list of partners in the quarterly Chaplaincy Newsletter to be distributed to parents, students, staff and supporters.

Ø Acknowledgment of your level of sponsorship on the list of partners on the Chaplain's Internet site currently under construction including a link to your Internet site (if you have one). The Chaplain's Internet site will be linked to the school's Internet site.

Ø Formal presentation of a Certificate of Appreciation for your Sponsorship support.

Sponsorships are fully tax-deductible and can be paid quarterly in advance.

Donations

Alternatively, some businesses prefer to make a one off donation rather than a twelve-month commitment.

Camp Sponsorship. Every term, there are young people from families who are unable to afford the cost of sending their child on an SU camp. For as little as $50 you could help to sponsor a child to be able to attend a Christian camp where they will learn about God's relevance to their lives.
